I absolutely loved the way this comic started out and it's still good, but I find myself trying to force myself to read it rather than actually enjoying it anymore. The story began lighthearted and funny and has turned into a lot of drama, death, politics, and serious matters that aren't any more fun to watch than real people suffering. I'd really like to keep reading. You do great work. Just... more funny, less tears?

2015 is intended to be The Year of The Laugh. Or at least the Return of the Smirk.

I absolutely love this comic, even if it takes a lot of time to reread it in its entirety when the mood strikes. I just find the various aspects of the comic to be so inspiring. Not just the dramatic and thought-provoking serious plots, but also the sweet or hilarious pages. Not to mention you are the master of foreshadowing and world-building. I just want to thank you for such a wonderful comic and I fully intend to keep following as long as you plan on writing/drawing.

I read from the beginning and caught up and Socks is DEAD?! NO! ;~~~; He was my favorite goblin! Does he come back? Please say yes. Some mysterious mumbo-jumbo or something!

You know you have a good OC when someone says 'I want to be just like her!'. Love Miss Norrington.

annnnnd all caught up! Woo!
This is great. Norrington's role in Kings War is so unexpected and fun.

and I'm not even going to subject you to my mindless ravings over the dream arc and the Wild Hunt bit.

So creative.

Now I suppose I should go read Girls Next Door.

Still working through my reread....

I just got past the bit where Jareth reverted for a while.

Holy... I just

THAT was depth. All of that questioning of how the story works and the power of words and roles. That was beautiful. I may go back and save some of that dialogue, just because.

To be fair, I'm totally biased toward exploration into the dichotomies of redeemable villains, and this was especially relevant and reminiscent of the source of that bias. (in fact it inspires me to get back to work on that 'source'...)
But still. Fantastic.

I'd keep reading if I didn't have work in the morning. I'll try to finish catching up over the next couple days...

My reading of Roommates sadly dropped off quite a long time ago - three years, I think?
I've been meaning to for a while now, but I'm finally gone back to the beginning to reread it and catch up. It's just stinking adorable.

And I know I shouldn't do this - I shouldn't pick at old scabs - but because I browsed the comments to hype myself up for this rereading and I'm oh so terribly opinionated (as are we all), allow me to be fantastically late to the party and say:
It's okay to criticize this comic, especially when the intention is to be constructive...
What is not okay is to insult the fans and the artist, even if unintentionally.
That is what I saw occur in that initial critique which exploded (like three years ago... about the time I stopped reading XD).
Insulting the comic wasn't the problem. Implying that fans who enjoy the comic are inferior/immature/less intelligent - that is what you don't want to do.
And even though that wasn't the poster's intention, that was how her commentary came across. There was an inherent sense of superiority in her tone, and that will tick anyone off. THAT was why she incited such an outrage, not just because she insulted the comic itself.

(This is pretty obvious, but I didn't see it stated plainly in any other response, except when it was mixed in with a flood of other arguments.)

And since I am so late to the party, let's just say this comment is a message to anyone who wants to critique Roommates in the future. Critique away, just be careful to say what you mean, and to mean what you say.

And understand that we all know it's a wacky, crack-ficcy crossover. It needs no excuse for being such.

Anyway, the more recent entries look pretty dang epic. It's really progressed amazingly, seeing as it started off as a set of whimsical little joke strips. I'm excited to finally catch up. I'll tell you what I think when I get there, Ashe.
