I'm pretty sure from this point on some fans proceeded to ship these two... Personally, I kinda-sorta-not really do. But I mostly ship Erik and Mag because the relatively recent (erm...I forget his name but his voice just makes me drool) guy who plays Erik and Sarah Brightman's voices would meld together so well that it would just take my breath away. (If you can't tell, yes, I'm rereading this. ^^)
The last three panels shone to my inner-slasher... badly. I was (against my better will, since I know this won't ever have a detergent's chance in the Bog of happening) internally chanting "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!" by the time I got to the last panel. (And, as far as the Roomates 'verse goes, I'm NOT an E/J shipper, either, so it was almost disturbing to get caught up in.)
And if you think that wasn't confusing, add to that the fact that the larger, better, more SANE and LOGICAL portion of my brain was, at the same exact time, gasping and crying out, "Is a possessed Erik gonna kill/maim Jareth?! No way! Run, Jareth, run! Something wicked this way comes, man!"
Such a varied emotional response (as insane as it was) deserves a cudos. So, Ashe, way to go! Can't wait for the next page, and more confusion - since you yourself have assured that clarification is still a while in coming.
So...I just flailed in excitement. Is Jareth going through his own Labyrinth-parallel journey to win his mortality/freedom from villain narrative? Because he already has the three friends/helpers in Erik, Javert, and James. And it would make a sort of neat symmetry with what he put Sarah through all that time ago - perhaps even engender some empathy for her struggle.
Anyway, just a random guess! I can't wait to see where you take this.
