Roommates 323 - Scapegoat by AsheRhyder Roommates 323 - Scapegoat by AsheRhyder
In which Office Hours are not observed,

OR

In which Erik puts his foot in it. Deep.

For those of you who haven't seen Rise of the Guardians, Jack Frost spent about 300 years invisible and intangible to human beings. (And is not, upon recollection, the only incarnation to be incapable of interacting with them, so double the effect of that...)

Erik belongs to Leroux and Webber.
Jack Frost belongs to Joyce, Ramsey, Steinberg, Berstein, Abaire, and Pine.

You know, the movie was confusing about that.  Most of it took place in modern day, yet they say Jack has been alone for 300 years, meaning since approx. the 1700's.  But when it shows him in that village, the village itself, the clothing, and the people all appear more Dark/Middle Ages, roughly perhaps 1100-1300's.  Was I the only confused by this?

I think the village is actually supposed to be from the 1700s too, but it was either a very rural and poverty-stricken place (presumabely a new, struggling colonial village), or the animators got a little lazy and simply used the same design as the Dark Ages village that Pitch later brings up. Or both.

Either way, I found it frustrating.  I could see the colonial bit, since Jack has an American accent, except the village looked more Dark Ages than Colonial America.  As for the poverty, maybe, but Jack and his sister had ice skates.  I have a hard time buying people in poverty stricken villages in that time period affording proper ice skates.  Animators!  Y U no do proper research?!

There's a similar mess-up in 'Brave'... 10th Century architecture, 16th Century fashion and supposedly the Vikings and Romans having all invaded simultaneously within the Lords' sons' lifetimes. :/

*facepalm*  My English history is much better than my Gaelic history.  Hollywood doesn't seem to get that history was exciting enough without getting everything wrong.
