Roommates 221 - Advice by AsheRhyder Roommates 221 - Advice by AsheRhyder
In which an uncommon relationship is commented on,

OR

In which a mortal trolls the immortal.

I will be pleasantly but extremely surprised if anyone recognizes the new woman in the comic; this version of The Magic Flute, while fantastic, was apparently only released in region 2. But I prefer the book on this one, as it was in English, done by Stephen Fry, and did other cool things. For those not familiar with this version of Magic Flute, brief synopses are online, but we can leave it mostly at this: She did magic, her lover did not, and then they had an epic custody war that took an entire opera. (Worst synopsis ever.)

For those of you who are interested, James' mother is Irish (based largely on the fact that Jack Davenport's mother is Irish). While Irish myth does not exactly overlap with the Erlkonig's story, it does, however, produce a significant amount of material on dealing with the supernatural side.

Incidentally, I figure James gets all his vicious cunning from his mother, and his dogged stubbornness from his father, based largely upon what I saw in the Young Adventures of Jack Sparrow.

... Way too many artist's notes in this one.

Norrington belongs to Disney, Bruckheimer, and Davenport.
Mrs. N belongs to me, though I may regret that soon.
Erlkonig is a mythological figure and belongs to too many people to count.
Queen of the Night belongs to Mozart and Schikaneder(and this version, Branagh, Fry, and Petrova).

At this point, all the readers of this comic agree that Mrs. N and a certain Mr. King are perfect for each other.

...Not to mention she'd make an awesome step-mom for Jareth.

Mrs. Norrington for the win! :w00t: Seriously, she seems all innocent, if a bit stern occasionally, but she's also so wise and caring. She's managed to surprised me twice already.
Queen of the Night? From The Magic Flute? I had to do a Google search to get the reference. I'm not sure what the story is about yet though. The plot summary I found is a bit long. ^^;

Falln4DarkAngel- I love you for that comment about er, physical proportions. Never occurred to me. Ha! Ryusora: I quoted that line earlier today too. Best response to It's not fair. *Verbal bitch slap!*

From the Magic Flute, a fitting consort/colleague for Erlkonig I think. And Mrs. Norrington's knowing what he is. Hurrah! :devilish:

Actually, his mother is Jadis, from the Narnia books; Queen of the Night is a good ... well, for lack of a better term, 'friend' of his father's. Though really, he probably would have preferred her to Jadis...

I would prefer anyone to Jadis :P
Well perhaps not Sweeney Todd, or anyone crazy from misery, or anyone as ridiculous as Rabadash.
Perhaps having a part-giantess for a mother explains Jareth's certain um...physical proportions >.<

I looooooove you! And Queen of the Night -loyal fangirl for many years-. This version of the Magic Flute is my favourite! Even though it is not in german. I freak out every time I see it, first time being in the cinema. It means the world to me that you put the Queen in here. Will she be returning? pretty please... she can be so cute and cruel and everything. Her and the Erlking in one page... The films, books and musicals you put in here... it is incredible. I have started reading your work this morning, it is 15:35 now. Stop me from ranting, or not. Now that my wish is fulfilled and there is fanwork of Petrova as the Queen of the Night, I will make my second wish: for a character of Merlin 1998 to appear in this series. I'll continue reading and find out. -If it doesn't happen no worries I adore your stories none the less- Seriously I feel like anything could happen now.

I haven't seen that incarnation, and it's a bit harder to find things from that era, but I'll keep an eye out. Merlin is one of those oddballs who's going to be a bit of whatever interpretation I've most recently seen or have seen more frequently than others.

I love the immortals' pot/kettle discussions, but I especially love that Mrs. N saw through it immediately. That kind of explains Jamie's actions in "Such Stuff" too I think. She's an awesome lady with an equally awesome son.

Not to mention all the other little things they share... the family resemblance is uncanny. :meow: Having magic (so being able to defy gravity at will) probably kills all fear of heights. It's not FAIR! :boo:

My comparison in this regard is my own crippling fear of heights (2m... Oh Sh1t. I'm already dizzy)... so yeah. I have one so I'm not just complaining.

... and yes. I was aware that I quoted Labyrinth. :meow: What kind of a fangirl would I be otherwise? :D

*snerk* You know, if poor Harry were still living there he'd shit himself knowing the Erlkonig was in the area... if I'm not mistaken the next time he meets with that particular Sidhe poor Dresden's going to get his butt handed to him. -___-

Well.... ok it depends if it's before or after the book Changes >_>

Do me a favor and watch part of one of the greatest movies of all time: the beginning of part 2.
I am a southerner and I have seen this many times. Scarlett O' Hara goes from stupid to smart... devilishly smart... and married on whims.

I also want you to watch it because you just might fall in love with Rhett Butler (as I have) and squeeze him in somewhere, but mainly because of reason #1.

I am from the deep south (where phantom phans are rare- and valuable... I have only one friend who we can rant to each other about how great phantom is), and if you have not watched the movie, I recommend Gone With the Wind.

I bring this up because Mrs. Norrington is quite a bit like Scarlett O' Hara (forgive me if I spell her name wrong) in the beginning of part 2.

And if I see Rhett sometime on your account I will give a personal thank-you.
