In which conclusions (and James) are jumped, in bad ways,
In which the artist realizes that people who have not seen Evil Dead may not get this one and will therefore explain.
For those of you who did not have access to the Evil Dead series, "Deadites" are spirits of the dead who either reanimate already dead bodies, or possess and corrupt the living. Ash, the guy with the chainsaw instead of a hand, is pretty much the expert in getting rid of them. What is important to know about deadites is that a.) They are extremely dangerous, highly mobile, and intelligent kind of undead who do not require a bite to "turn" you but can do so seemingly at will, b.) They are capable of looking "normal" for periods of time, especially to trick people into lowering their defenses, and c.) They talk, putting them above most other incarnations of zombies (excluding Pratchett's). They often taunt or play with their intended victims, and have been known to use sarcasm and something like irony.
Which is why Tallahassee and Ash interpret James' condition in the way they do.
